Interview Questions - Page 2 >>

Hello NF2 community,

You should know that Dr. Welling with Ohio State University is conducting research, partially funded by Advocure NF2 Inc, testing drugs and natural compounds against NF2-associated tumors. His second area of focus is to determine the role of merlin in the development and growth of NF2 associated meningiomas and schwannomas.

I will be conducting an interview with Dr. Welling On March 30 which will subsequently be posted on Nf2 crew, Trial Talk and the Advocure website. Here is a chance for the NF2 community, YOU!!!!!, to ask a leading NF2 researcher your questions. I cant promise that I will use all of your questions. I will try to keep the focus on his research. Below is a recent email from Dr Welling:

Here is a list of over the counter supplements and botanicals that I have had reported to me as being used in the NF2 communities.
Are there others of which you are currently aware? Would other members of Advocure or the NF2 crew like to add to my list?

Some of the naturally occurring products being utilized as self reported by patients with NF2 include the following:

  • Artepillin C (ARC)
  • Bioperine
  • Black Seed Oil
  • Caffeic Acid Phenethyl Ester (CAPE) Extracts (as found in Bio 30)
  • Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)
  • Curcumin from Turmeric
  • Epigallocatechingallate (EGCG) from Green Tea
  • Isothiocyanate Sulforaphane found in Broccoli
  • 5-Loxin from Boswellia
  • Omega-3
  • Resveratrol
  • Multiple Vitamins including: C, D, and E

Certainly this list is not all inclusive.

We are anxious to try some of these where it makes sense in our cell and animal models. Best of all would be to find one (or more) which we could reasonably move into clinical trial!

Thanks for your assistance,
Dr. Brad Welling
